Credits & Billing¶
Open Quantum uses a credit system for job execution. You can view your balance, purchase credits, and review transaction history from the portal.
Checking Your Balance¶
Your current credit balance is visible on the portal dashboard. Each organization has its own credit balance.
Free Credits¶
New accounts receive free Spark credits — no credit card required. These credits let you run circuits on real QPUs to evaluate the platform.
You can earn additional free credits through:
- Referrals -- Share your referral link from the portal. You earn bonus credits each time someone signs up.
Purchasing Credits¶
To purchase additional credits:
- Go to the credits page in the portal.
- Select a credit package.
- Complete the purchase.
Credits are added to your organization's balance immediately.
Transaction History¶
The portal shows a complete history of credit transactions for your organization:
- Purchases -- Credits bought through the portal.
- Job charges -- Credits consumed by job submissions.
- Refunds -- Automatic refunds for failed or canceled jobs.
- Bonuses -- Referral credits and promotional grants.
How Pricing Works¶
Job cost depends on:
- Backend -- Different QPUs have different per-shot rates.
- Shot count -- More shots cost more credits.
- Execution plan -- Public Compute (subsidized) vs Private Compute (dedicated).
- Queue priority -- Standard or priority queue placement.
The SDK shows a cost quote before submitting. In the portal, the cost is displayed during job creation.
